ACS-GHS Honors and Advanced Honors
Scholarship Examinations in Chemistry
Science and Engineering Classroom Building, University of Houston

Three scholarships will be awarded at each level (Honors and Advanced Honors). The awards will be $2500, $1500, and $1000 for first, second, and third places, respectively. Scholarship awards and Plaques for honorable mention will be presented at the Awards Night meeting of the American Chemical Society -Greater Houston Section (ACS-GHS) on in May, 2010.
Eligibility Requirements

The examination will begin at 2:00 pm and will last 150 minutes. Registration will start at 1:00pm. Students may arrive up till 2:30 pm but will not be allowed any extra time.

The registration fee is $2.00. This fee should be either be sent directly with a registration form or given to the teacher, and the will submit all their students' names at once. Students who have not pre-registered for the exam should bring their money to the exam. These students will be seated only if extra tests are available.

Students should bring an eraser, several soft-lead (#2) pencils, and a non-programmable, non-graphing calculator to the exam. Calculators should have log (base 10) and square root function keys. Scrap paper will not be needed since you may write on the exam.

Programmable calculators (that is, calculators with a programmable memory function) will not be allowed. Clearing the memory of the calculator will not suffice. Students who do not bring a non-programmable calculator will have to work the exam without a calculator.

Calculators may not be shared during the examination.

Books and paper will not be allowed in the examination room.

Anyone found to be disruptive will be asked to leave the exam.
Directions to SEC Building:
Take 1-45 to the Cullen Exit. At Cullen. travel southwest, past the Hofheinz Pavilion towards UH. Turn right past the third stop light (UH Entrance 14) into the parking lot. The SEC Building is the new building running parallel to Cullen. (See UH map at www.uh.edu).
