American Chemical Society
Texas Professional Engineers License

Dear Members:

The Professional Development Committee and the Younger Chemists Committee of the Greater Houston Section hopes to provide an opportunity for interested ACS members to earn their Texas Professional Engineers License (for the Chemical Engineering Discipline). Local universities have offered preparation courses for the Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) exam and we hope that a similar course could be offered for the Texas P.E. License Exam. We hope to work with the South Texas Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) to further this prospect, so at present we are surveying our membership to gauge interest and hopefully build some productive momentum for such an offering. Our goal is to have the course conducted in time for the spring examination (April 16, 2010). Further information about the exam can be found on the Texas Board of Professional Engineers website: http://www.tbpe.state.tx.us/index.htm

Members can express their interest and support for this initiative by sending an email to the Greater Houston Section (acs-ghs@acs-ghs.org). We hope to communicate our interest to the AIChE and the Universities by early September, so please send emails by Sept 10, 2009 if you are interested.

We look forward to hearing from you and welcome the chance to offer this and other professional development opportunities to our membership.
